Bonnie Qin is an emerging Meanjin / Brisbane based artist whose work explores sensory/bodily experience and the inter-disciplinary relationship between painting and photography . Her paintings include macro-portraits and small studies of textures and images with a focus on the cropping or narrowing of subjects in order to study certain aspects of them.

Qin’s areas of interest and research include the body, chronic pain/illness and trauma, photography and the distortion of light, and conceptualising sensory experience. Her practice orbits around these themes, involving them through painting and drawing.
